Birch Woodturning Log Blanks
Birch trees are an elegant native species that are sometimes known as "ladies of the wood" and have long symbolised renewal, purification and fertility.
Birch wood is light in colour with straight even grain. It is relatively soft and easy to work with making it a great choice for carving and turning.
Why not try making a Kuska? A Kuska is a traditional Scandinavian cup, normally made from Birch and often decorated with Reindeer antlers by the Sámi people but we'll leave that up to you!
These logs were cut as part of a sustainable hedgerow management project on the land surrounding our workshop in North Devon.
Please note - these logs are green and unseasoned.
