Rarely available on this scale, these striking Monkey Puzzle bowl blanks are the product of one very large tree which was felled and milled in the UK. Many of the blanks benefit from some early stage spalting which has resulted in random flashes of blue/grey within the timber.

Monkey Puzzle is highly prized for the striking contrast between the deep reddish brown of the very hard, large knots and the paler, softer wood. And it's this characteristic which provides real opportunity for creative woodturning with these blanks.
 
Without knots
The pronounced grain and thickness of these blanks make them ideal for large salad bowls or 'boxes'. Many of these also benefit from a colour flash which comes as a result of early stage spalting in the timber.
