Brown Oak Bowl Blanks
Brown Oak is not a distinct species of oak, but rather refers to oak that has been infected with the fungus Fistulina Hepatica which has the effect of turning the wood a deep brown colour. Once the wood has been cut and dried, the fungus dies, leaving a rich golden brown timber.
The tree from which these blanks were cut came from a private estate in Somerset.
